Towards the end of last year I tried to make it out to ride with the Pat’s 605 Cyclery guys as often as I could. This bike shop has been around for a long time and has a group of avid cyclist who go out on a saturday morning rides to the beach, a ride I often do alone. I usually ride alone so being able to ride in a group is always a good opportunity for me. You learn a lot when you ride in a group. How to be aware of your surroundings and how to us the momentum of others to keep pace. Usually the bigger the group the faster you all go. The person in front that is pulling the group will use up more energy and keep the pace for a couple of miles. when that person gets tired he/she rotates out and the next person takes over. When cycling behind someone that you’re able to rest a bit and not feel the wind as much as the person in the front.
On New Years Day I was invited by the Pat’s group to ride up to Pasadena, CA. This is a ride that they do every New Years day and It was a fun ride. We went up to the end of the Rose Parade in Pasadena and watched a few floats while we rested. This is a good ride and one I hope to be part of again next year.
